Interdisciplinary Core Curriculum
Interdisciplinary Studies Mission Statement
The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma's core program in Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) provides a distinctive, campus-wide educational experience in the liberal arts and sciences. Facilitated by cross-disciplinary team teaching and individual student scholarship, the IDS program introduces students to a breadth of knowledge and interdisciplinary connection across the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and fine arts, preparing students to lead meaningful, purposeful lives as versatile professionals, citizens, and lifelong learners.
IDS Student Learning Objectives
By engaging in the IDS core, students will be able to:

Articulate central ideas within the physical and natural sciences, mathematics, the arts, humanities, and social sciences.

Critically analyze real world problems, concepts, and practices through multiple disciplinary perspectives.

Synthesize multiple disciplinary perspectives as they relate to the natural world, history, and the human condition.

Physical Expression
One hour must be successfully completed from the following:
Note: Students who have served on active military duty in the U.S. Armed Forces and supply the Registrar's Office with appropriate documentation are exempt will receive credit for the Physical Expression requirement. Students who are physically disabled and provide documentation from a qualified physician (M.D. or D.O.) may, upon approval by the Registrar, be exempted from the Physical Expression requirement.
