HIST 4103 Imaging America: Photography as History and Text: 1839-1939

In this course, students will be introduced to visual and material texts as primary sources for understanding the rich and complex cultural history of America from 1839 through the Great Depression. Specifically, this course examines how photography was used to create public and private narratives of American identity.
